Levels and clinical significance of 25-(0H)-D3,Hcy and E2 in patients with benign
paroxysmal positional vertigo

Objective To analyze the levels and clinical significance of 25-hydroxyvitaminD3[25-(OH)-D3],homocysteine(Hcy) and estradiol(E2) in patients with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo(BPPV).Methods A total of 128 patients with BPPV admitted to the hospital from January 2019 to January 2021 were selected as the BPPV group, and another 75 healthy volunteers in the hospital were selected as the healthy group.The levels of 25-(OH)-D3 and E2 were determined by chemiluminescence method, and the level of Hcy was determined by real-time fluorescence quantitative method, and the expression levels of 25-(OH)-D3,Hcy and E2 in healthy group and BPPV group and the groups of different disease severity.Results Compared with those in the healthy group, the levels of 25-(OH)-D3 and E2 decreased, and the level of Hcy increased in the BPPV group(P<0.05).Receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curve showed that compared with 25-(OH)-D3,Hcy and E2 alone, the area under ROC curve of combined detection of three indexes for diagnosis of BPPV was bigger(P<0.05).The decrease of 25-(OH)-D3 and E2 levels, the increase of Hcy level and overwork were the risk factors of BPPV(P<0.05).The correlation analysis results showed that 25-(OH)-D3 negatively correlated with Hcy(r=-0.527,P=0.001),25-(OH)-D3 positively correlated with E2(r=0.530,P=0.001),and Hcy negatively correlated with E2(r=-0.660,P=0.001).Conclusion 25-(OH)-D3 and E2 levels decrease, and Hcy level increases in BPPV,which correlates with the severity of the disease in patients and could be used as indicators to evaluate the severity of the disease in patients.
