Research on Force-bearing Capacity of Transmission Lines Under Wind and Ice

The models of wind loading and icing loading were established based on the Chinese design codes of transmission line.The analytical method of deformation and horizontal tension of transmission line under wind and ice loading were developed based on theoretical analytical solution.A real transmission line was used as an example to examine the force-bearing capacity of transmission lines under wind and ice combined loading using developed computational program.The results show that the effects of icing thickness on force-bearing capacity are much larger than those of span and sag of transmission lines.
